"FORGIVENESS" - WINTER TULIPS COLLECTION
I created "Forgiveness" as part of my Winter Tulips Collection.
"A tulip doesn’t strive to impress anyone. It doesn’t struggle to be different than a rose. It doesn’t have to. It is different. Just like the tulip, there is room for everyone in this world". -Tim Layton
"Forgiveness" is a classic silver gelatin fine art gallery quality print made with large format black and white film.
Dating back to the 16th century, tulips have had significant meaning to people around the world.
I think forgiveness is critically important for your own wellbeing. Letting go of grudges and bitterness and moving forward has been medically proven to be to your benefit. When you forgive, you move forward towards peace, gratitude, and joy and away from the negative. Forgiveness is about you taking control of yourself and improving your wellbeing.
In our modern society where just about every aspect of life has been digitized, it is a rare treat to collect and enjoy handmade artwork.

The Tulip is a classic flower of love, although it was considered more of a symbol for charity by the Victorians. The Turkish people who originally bred the flower considered it a symbol of paradise on earth, making it a part of many religious and secular poems and art pieces.
While the Ottoman empire planted the bulbs to remind them of heaven and eternal life, the Dutch that popularized the flower considered it a reminder of how brief life can be instead. The link to love and passion developed primarily in the 20th and 21st centuries.
Although different tulip colors carry distinct meanings - yellow tulips symbolizing cheerful thoughts, white conveying forgiveness and purple representing royalty - a Turkish legend may be responsible for the red tulip's symbolism. The story goes that a prince named Farhad was love struck by a maiden named Shirin. When Farhad learned that Shirin had been killed, he was so overcome with grief that he killed himself - riding his horse over the edge of a cliff. It's said that a scarlet tulip sprang up from each droplet of his blood, giving the red tulip the meaning "perfect love."
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
My artwork is a direct portal to my heart and soul, and it communicates my deepest thoughts and emotions. I create every piece of artwork using the finest film, paper, and raw darkroom materials. My printmaking process is devoid of computers and digital gear on purpose. My darkroom-based methods are simple, yet elegant and allow me to produce gallery-quality artwork that is unparalleled by modern digital techniques.
I don't outsource any part of my process, so when you receive a piece of artwork from me, you know that my hands were directly involved in every step of the process.
Researchers and physicians have studied nature-based artwork for over fifty years. The body of research confirms that our sense of wellbeing instantly improves when we view photographs of natural subjects such as flowers, trees, and scenic vistas. Researchers also confirmed nature-based artwork lowers blood pressure, reduces stress and anxiety, and shortens recovery time from illness.
When viewing my black and white nature-themed art, something magical happens that is unexpected. Your mind engages in a way that isn’t possible if the art were in color. Your mind fills in the gaps and makes the natural subject the color that you want. You become part of the image, and you are my co-creator. Together, we create a positive and healing process that makes you walk away feeling easier and lighter.
