Malian Large Format Photographer Seydou Keita's Retrospective, ‘Bamako Portraits' Features Malians From the ‘50s and ‘60s at Foam Museum in Amsterdam

Keita captures portraits of Malian people in their best, extravagant dress in various patterns with a large format camera. We often see people in their cultural dress as well as western style clothes to have the best possible portrait. In fact, it helps us to see daily life in Mali during the '50s and '60s; thus, they also carry evidence of historical document of their time.

Gallery Event Focuses on 20th Century Photography of Ansel Adans, Edward Weston, and Imogen Cunningham

A showing of 20th Century photography is on display through May 31 in two partnered exhibits at Kyle Irwin Design, 39 E. de la Guerra St., Santa Barbara. The show is open by appointment; call or text Henri Bristol, 660-1311 to set up a viewing time.

An exhibit of platinum and silver gelatin prints from the collection of mother and son artists Imogen Cunningham and Rondal Partridge offers an opportunity to view the works of these two world-renowned photographers.

This exhibition celebrates the work of the original F/64 Group members and its influence on other artists, featuring works by: Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Imogen Cunningham, Dorothea Lange, Horace Bristol, Ruth Bernhard, Brett Weston, Wynn Bullock, Barbara Morgan, Arthur Rothstein, Judy Dater, Morley Baer, Kim Weston (Edward Weston's grandson) and Cara Weston (Edward Weston's granddaughter).

Stephen Grewe, Large Format Film Photographer is Featured Along With Three Other Prestigious Michigan Artists in a Featured Exhibit

The AB Dow Museum inside Midland Center for the Arts presents a new exhibition curated by senior visual arts curator and resident artist Armin Mersmann.  "Quad" will exhibit works by four prestigious Michigan artists. They are Valerie Allen, Stephen Grewe, Frits Hoendervanger and Steve Parkhurst.

The exhibit opens Saturday, April 28, and continues through June16.  Stephen Grewe specializes in large-format film photography and is a faculty member of the Studio School at Midland Center for the Arts.
