Handmade Silver Gelatin Fine Art By Tim Layton
These silver gelatin, selenium toned, fine art prints are available as an 8x10 large format contact print or murals up to 40"x60". Each piece of artwork is personally printed by Tim Layton, processed to museum archival standards, signed, mounted, and matted on 100 percent rag museum board. All prints are carefully prepared and packaged in specially designed protective shipping boxes, and shipped fully insured via UPS ground. Normally there is a long waiting period for Tim's original prints. This is a rare opportunity to obtain a print with a much shorter waiting period (ships in 6-8 weeks). The Flora Bella Collection represents Tim's finest work. All of the botanicals in this collection are photographed by Tim with an 8x10 Large Format view camera using analog film. The film is developed in Tim's darkroom and then hand printed one at a time using a custom 8x10 large format enlarger. Each piece of artwork is developed and processes according to museum archival standards to ensure the artwork will last a lifetime. I don't outsource any part of my process, so when you receive a piece of artwork from me, you know that my hands were directly involved in every step of the process. ABOUT THE ARTWORK
My artwork is a direct portal to my heart and soul, and it communicates my deepest thoughts and emotions. If you want to know who I am - look deeply with curiosity at flowers, trees, and wildlife. My fine art printmaking process is devoid of computers and digital gear and every part of the process is done by me personally. My darkroom-based methods are proven to be archival and continue to be unparalleled by modern digital techniques. I don't outsource any part of my process, so when you receive a piece of artwork from me, you know that my hands were directly involved in every step of the process. Researchers and physicians have studied nature-based artwork for over fifty years. The body of research confirms that our sense of wellbeing instantly improves when we view photographs of natural subjects such as flowers, trees, and scenic vistas. Researchers also confirmed nature-based artwork lowers blood pressure, reduces stress and anxiety, and shortens recovery time from illness. When viewing my black and white nature-themed art, something magical happens that is unexpected. Your mind engages in a way that isn’t possible if the art were in color. Your mind fills in the gaps and makes the natural subject the color that you want. You become part of the image, and you are my co-creator. Together, we create something new together that forever changes both of us. |
FLOWERS ARE MORE THAN JUST BEAUTIFUL
I want to make your home and office beautiful with my handmade botanical artwork and more importantly, I want to have a positive impact on your life and wellbeing. Research data confirms that people value nature and our natural resources less today than any previous time in history. I suspect this is because many people are being insulated from nature as part of their everyday life routines which will have negative long-term effects.
Many flowers are used to make medicine that save lives. Flowers are placed in hospital rooms typically for sympathy reasons, but few people know that flowers also reduce stress and improve recovery times of patients too. Flowers feed the honeybee population which are responsible for promulgating food crops. Pollination is not just fascinating natural history. It is an essential ecological survival function. Without pollinators, the human race and all of earth’s terrestrial ecosystems would not survive. Of the 1,400 crop plants grown around the world, i.e., those that produce all of our food and plant-based industrial products, almost 80% require pollination by animals. Visits from bees and other pollinators also result in larger, more flavorful fruits and higher crop yields. In the United States alone, the pollination of agricultural crops is valued at 10 billion dollars annually. Globally, pollination services are likely worth more than 3 trillion dollars.
I believe that people protect what they love. If we can help people understand the issues, then many of the right actions will be taken because the vast majority of people care about things that matter to them. It has been scientifically proven that when people spend time outside, their health improves and their sense of wellbeing is better too. If we can get people connected to nature in a positive and meaningful way in our radically busy technology-centric world, I believe that we have a better chance of protecting and conserving our natural resources for ourselves and future generations. My artwork is a link between you and nature and the critical importance that it has on the future of the world. There is no world for humans without trees, flowers, and habitats for wildlife. |
