Modern photographers today have more choices than ever before when it comes to creative tools and photographic mediums.  For most photographers, the 35mm focal length is most familiar and so when someone starts using large format cameras, all of those familiar focal lengths don't make sense.

Subscribe to my Large Format Newsletter and download your Large Format Lens Conversion Chart now and start using it immediately.

I created a reference chart of the most popular focal lengths to help you approximate the equivalent focal lengths for 4x5, 5x7, 8x10, and 11x14 large format cameras.  I use all of these formats and I use this chart on a regular basis when I am in the field.  I use a small DSLR as a "polaroid" to see if I like a composition before I get out my large format gear.  In the old days, I used polaroid backs to do this, but today, I take advantage of an inexpensive DSLR with an all-in-one lens to simulate the intended focal length and final image.  Keep in mind the equivalent focal lengths are approximate and will get you in the ballpark.  I also included the factor for each format that you can use to convert any focal length.
